Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017

Contracts legislation - Minors’ contracts - Contractual capacity of minors

91: Further provisions relating to application of sections 86 to 90

You could also call this:

“Extra rules about when parts of the law for young people's contracts don't apply”

This part of the law talks about what sections 86 to 90 do not apply to. You should know that these sections don’t apply in two situations:

  1. When a contract has been approved by the District Court under section 98.

  2. When there’s an agreement or settlement about money or damages that involves a young person (also called a minor). This applies whether the young person is alone or with other people.

It’s important to remember that these rules are about contracts and agreements involving young people. The law wants to make sure that in some special cases, different rules apply to protect young people’s interests.
