Weights and Measures Act 1987

Miscellaneous provisions

38: Act not to apply to water, electricity, or gas

You could also call this:

“This law doesn't cover measuring water, electricity, or gas (except liquid LPG)”

This law says that the Weights and Measures Act 1987 doesn’t apply to certain things. You don’t need to worry about this act when it comes to:

  1. Water that comes through pipes
  2. Electricity
  3. Gas that comes through pipes, except for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) that is in liquid form

This means that the rules in this act don’t cover how these things are measured or sold. So, if you’re getting water from your tap, using electricity in your home, or using gas that comes through pipes (unless it’s liquid LPG), this particular law doesn’t affect how those are measured or sold to you.
