Civil Aviation Act 1990

Aerodromes, facilities, and joint venture airports

92: Definition of joint venture airport

You could also call this:

“What is a joint venture airport and who runs it?”

In this part of the law, a joint venture airport is a special kind of airport. It’s an airport that two groups work on together. These two groups are the government (which is called “the Crown”) and an Airport Authority. They set up, look after, run, and manage the airport together. They do this under two different laws: this one (the Civil Aviation Act 1990) and another one called the Airport Authorities Act 1966. This teamwork between the government and an Airport Authority is what makes it a “joint venture” airport.
